    5spd Swap

I'm doing a 5spd swap in a 1990 Daytona. I've found a few things I forgot at the yart. 1) bobble strut. I'm going to make my own brackets and mount using a small pancake engine mount. 2) transmission mount. apparently this is different from the automatic mount. My question is can you buy the whole mound that bolts to the transmission?

    Thanks,
    Bill

You can buy the mount but its only going to be from the dealer (if available still?) or from a junkyard/someone here. The aftermarket 'mount' is only the rubber insert thats the same between auto & manual and not the whole bracket that differs like you discovered.

Thanks, that's a bummer. Dose anyone know if a trans bracket out of a Shadow with a 520 would fit? No manual Daytona's in the yard right now.

The trans mount is no longer available from the dealer. I believe someone used an older mount on a newer vehicle. The mounting points are the same, rubber is smaller.

yes it will work. Even the auto mount will work if you redrill the holes and grind on it, from what i remember.

    Re: 5spd Swap, New issue

Thanks for all the info. Found another issue. The shifter cables are rubbing a console braket hard when I mount the shifter. Dose the pedistel need to be shortend for the 5spd shifter? Take a look at the pic. Thanks Bill

Link because the direct pic was resized.

The cables should not rub anything. Are you routing them through the stock locations? There are 2 small indentations in front of the shifter where the holes go. They are almost under the air bag module bracket from what I remember.

    Re: 5spd Swap

Here is a pick of where the cables are routed. There were 5 indents. If I used the upper three the cables would rub more. I believe the current location I have them to be the same as the doner car.
