    No start smec issue

First of all its not on my car, but I socketed and burned a chip for a smec for wvrampage. When he goes to use the smec he says the check engine light is very dim and a relay clicks not allowing him to even crank the car/fuel pump doesnt kick on. When he puts another computer in it cranks/primes fuel pump just fine. I'm using a sst27sf512 chip at 8000 offset using t-smec v15. What could be wrong, the smec was known working, I didn't damage the board at all, could I have messed up a solder on one of the pins of the socket or something, what other issues could it be?

    Thanks

Sounds like a programming issue, the sign is no fuel pump sound.

    Posts 56 and 59. The offset is 0000 with a 512 chip.

I thought all bin files were set at that. Try 0000, you've got nothing to lose,

Sounds very much like the issue I'm having with my car. Though, it happens to me with ANY SMEC. Someone suggested the ignition switch could be bad.

If it won't even crank, it has nothing to do with the SMEC. The SMEC doesn't control cranking.

    Thanks
Does the relay click pretty rapidly? ... also the other lights on the cluster idiot section?
Not to thread jack but that's what mine has done off and on for awhile. My issue prevents starting the engine until the GRD strap on the battery is disconnected for a instant. Reconnect the GRD pole and he starts back up like nothing was wrong. Disconnect "time" can be short enough to not wipe the adaptive coding. Socketed SMEC using one of Robs earlier cals (3BAR +40's .. etc). Problem is no codes are set ... can't retrieve them when the condition exists. Been through the usual suspects when it comes to an electrical problem Might not do it for weeks or months but then there will be a rash of instances over a couple days ... then gone again. Weird, and has me stumped for sure.

    Re: No start smec issue

Sounds like a huge draw draining the batt. Could it be the SMEC is sending power where it shouldn't be ? I would try disconnecting things like the Alt. injectors fuel pump etc. one at a time while obsevering the check eng. light for brightness.

    Re: No start smec issue

the relay clicks about once every second of 2 but it will not kick the pump on.the onle smec that it was runing on works fine, the no cranks was beacuse I didnt have the nutral safty grounded,I knew that part but I just wanted to prime the fuel to check for leaks. It is runing on the original cal right now but theres more detail issues that need done right now.
