Ugh! Tired of getting stuck with small things...

I have the FWD-P gears and the FWD-P Hybrid Timing belt which are both "round tooth". The 2.2 crank gear and the oil pump gear are "square tooth". is this belt gonna work with the 2.2 crank and oil pump gears?

No they need to be round tooth. That's why your belt won't fit right.

You can use a round tooth sprocket on your intermediate shaft. For the crank gear, you need to find a round tooth gear which some have said Masi motors have them and ???????? or swap out the crank to a CB and make an adapter or swap out the short block .

hmmm.... Well would it be possible to have some cam gears made that would be square tooth and run a TIII timing belt?

how are you gonna run square tooth gears and a round tooth belt?

Simon the Masi motors are all square tooth. A 88 2.5 Tall block crank sproket might work.

Maybe a machine shop could machine the square tooth to round ?

Someone said they found a Masi round tooth iirc.

88 uses a CB type crank so that won't work either.

CsX516? I'll recheck his name, made a CB crank work in a non CB engine, just machined up some spacers.

Your doing it backwards, you want round tooth unless you want to trash your expensive FWD gears.

Yeah I would just have to set the fwd gears to the side.

Re: Ugh! Tired of getting stuck with small things...

I pulled the crankshaft gear off and took it to a machine shop. They said that they "might" be able to get it to work with the cam gears. They said it would take from 6-7 weeks. So I was wondering if I could just get a gear off of a commonblock crank? Or will that gear not work on the TII crank?

Re: Ugh! Tired of getting stuck with small things...

So I pulled the Crank gear off of a 2.5 commonblock and It the hole is just a little bit smaller than the 2.2 TII crank gear. Getting it machined right now to fit.
