    Pedal height?

Ok, i've been meaning to ask about this for a while. In my P-body, the throttle pedal is closer to the floor than the brake and clutch pedals at rest. Since i tend to rev-match downshift a good bit, i like to heel and toe, but i haven't found a good way to do that with the height difference between the brake and gas.

Has anyone put a spacer or something on the pedal to bring it up some to help with technical footwork? I was thinking of putting a block of something on the pedal to get it closer to the static height of the brake and clutch. Any ideas?

    Re: Pedal height?

If you put a spacer (washer) between the pedal arm the the clip the throttle cable locks into it'll brin the pedal height up. I use a 1/4" spacer or so. Depends on the car's brakes. My ShelbyZ has the big D-150 MC so I don't push the pedal down as far so I needed to bring the throttle up higher. If my New yorker was a 5spd with it's standard car 4 wheel disc brake MC I wouldn't bring the pedal up as far as I did on the shelby because there's slightly more pedal movement before the brakes engage hard enough. I learned on a 1970 911S So according to Road and Track I have a U-joint for an ankle.

not sure what you mean with this. Biggest issue i have is the depth issue and hitting the center console with my foot

Means that he has a slightly different method for heal-toe since the car he learned on had some very awkward placement.

Oh just Road and Track Magazine saying you need a U-joint for an ankle to heel and toe a 911. It's BS. but I found it funny since it's A) the car I learned on and B) they don't know how to do it if they think that. I just roll my ankle a bit and hit the gas with the side of my foot. You have like size 14 feet that your hitting the center console with? My size 11 Doc Martens do it all day long and don't have an issue.

Also do you have the wider 5spd gas pedal for heel and toeing?

i think so, i'd guess its around 2-2.5" wide. FWIW it was originally a 5sp car anyways...

I've noticed just about every car I've driven is like this. It's probably some sort of safety measure to make sure you hit the brakes first.

ball of toe on brake, rotate 45* and roll foot sideways and back to blip throttle....i know a guy that heels the brake and pops the throttle linkage just above the pedal having a smaller foot.
