I cant remember what other car's oil filters are compatible with what.
I need to be reminded what cars (i think mustang 5.0?) filters are larger than stock 2.2 and will fit.
Does this also apply to the TIII engines as well?

Yes the Mustang V8 filter will fit, Dodge 360/318 filter will fit(not as long as mustang filter), also am told the Viper filter will work as well and was recommended to use it on my car.
Hope this helps,

thanks!
also a srt4/liberty 3.7 filter will fit. Skinny filter but as long as a 5.0 filter, just not as fat
If you're using a BOSCH alternator, the 5.0 oil filter won't fit because the alternator won't clear it.
I run a 5L mustang filter on my 90 van with a nippondenso alternator, for cross reference here are some numbers..PH8A (fram#) or FL1A (motorcraft#).Originally Posted by mcsvt
The older 360/318 filter will work, as will the newer magnum 318/360 filter (same as the viper one).
Some of the big filters will hit the alternator depending upon which one your car has. The bosch alt on my 89 shadow won't let me run too big a filter.

I use the 3.0 filter on my shadow. I found it works best without removing my fan shourd. My current oil cooler adapter is just thin enough now.
last oil cooler, I had to keep removing the fan shourd for every oil change

I use the 5.0 filter. fits nicely.
I use the filter for the viper. In puralator it is a pl14670 It works on my neon, and my turbododges. It is as fat as a 5.0L filter, but shorter for better clearances.
thanks guys! i appreciate the feedback!

If length clearance is a problem you can use the GLHS one as well. Wix 51335. It's very short and very wide. A little wider than the FL1A(Ford/Mustang). Wix is the only brand I've found locally for that filter.

I use this one too, mainly cause I can use it on all my cars. It is the same filter for the 3.5 v6 in my 300M.Originally Posted by TurbododgePirate
