    Ummm . . . ?

I have no idea what's going on.

First, my horn started going off on its own while turning corners.

Next, when I hit the turn signals, both indicators on the dash started blinking as if my hazards were on. I don't know what the actual signal lights were doing.

Last, the Charger just randomly died on me. Took forever to get it started again, but it made it home at least.

Kind of sounds like a turn signal switch going wonky to me.

your car is possessed, i recommend an exorcism.

it sounds like a short somewhere - it just started doing this out of no where? maybe something fishy with your fuse box?

Yeah, just started last night. I've been driving the car all week with no issues whatsoever.

No, I had to work all weekend. I did manage to get a new(er) steering column though, so I'll probably just swap out the whole thing and go from there.

I think the problem is that it's an L-body

Could be wiring in the steering column like you are thinking, it's where I would look.

Also on the horn, the foam in the horn button rots out on the L-bodies causing them to honk for ne reason at random times. Been there and had to disconnect the horn to stop that.

That's what I'm thinking too. Probably doesn't help that the steering wheel is kinda bent (came out of a wrecked GLHS), and that I was drumming on it while waiting in line in the parking garage . . .

What can I say, an old Helmet song came on the radio, and I got carried away.

    Re: Ummm . . . ?

as for the horn going off that could be that brass piece that moves up and down when you push the horn

Bad ground, probably behind the dash. Have fun with that one.

    Re: Ummm . . . ?

Horn is fixed, Dave called that one. I got some double sided foam tape from the hardware store, and it now works better than ever.

For the column, I didn't have a punch to remove the roll pins and swap the U-joint, so I basically mixed and matched components from each column. The new(er) ignition switch seems to have cured the problem with the heater and defrost not working. Turn signals now work fine, aside from I need new bulbs in the side markers up front.

And as for my problem with the signals not cancelling?

Turns out if you put the steering wheel on upside down, the pins in the wheel won't hit the levers. DOH!

Now I'm going to go take it all apart again and see if I can't get somewhere on my gauge cluster swap.
