    Help with some questions please?

Hey Everyone, I just put a used 555 in my 89 CSX last weekend and it shudders pretty bad as I let out the clutch. I'm not sure what the deal is. The flywheel was resurfaced and did have some light surface rust on it that I hosed down with brake clean. I believe we got everything right when we re-installed it. It's occurs worst from a stop in first and goes away by third. I don't know... this is my first time for this so I'm bummed. I know the bobble strut is okay and the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, flywheel, etc is all new. The 555 is a used unit out of a friends car that ran and shifted fine. If it is just an adjustment could someone please detail the proceedure? Thanks for all the help. I'm relatively positive that the alignment of the clutch is dead nuts too. I also installed new CVs also.

It is a Checker Auto Parts store brand. I can't remember the name. It's nothing special though. What is the process for breaking it in?

How are the motor mounts? They will cause it to shudder badly.

That light surface rust may cause it to shudder/chatter until it gets ground off in the course of normal use.

Only bad shuddering ive had in one of these had to do with motor mounts/bobble strut. Cant hurt to double check that one of them isnt worn out or broken. Especially with the rubber mounts.. they can be torn clean through but not have a visible line if the motors weight is compressing it, but when the motor rotates it seperates completely. just a thought.

I had that happen after I put a clutch in, the bolts holding the motor mount on the passenger side of the car were loose. Tightened them up, no more shudder.
