    TBI Shadow part throttle hesitation

    Daughter's Shadow - again...

Running down the highway at 65, at WOT the car has power and accelerates. Lift the throttle just a wee bit and the car seems like its choking itself, has no power, and slows down. A real PITA to run highway speeds.

1.) Does the TBI computer go from open to closed loop the same as the turbo cars depending on throttle position?

    2.) Could be a TPS??

    There are NO CODES.

Answer to question #1 Yes. Once 80% throttle angle is reached it's considered WOT.
question #2 Could be, should throw a code, but not always and it's very easy to check with a multimeter.

I'd treat it like any other 2.2l and check cam and ignition timing first. It sounds like a low base ignition timing to me.

    Will check timing.

It's like an on/off switch, seriously. If the throttle is just on beard second off the floor, the car wants to run like ---- and hold like 60 mph. At extreme WOT, power is on and car wants to run 75+. It's definitely acting up above 80% so I think that rules out an O2 problem.

If you have a scanner, check the tps voltage throughout it's range.

Unplug the LU if it has it and try that.

If not, then it could be the EGR system acting up if it also has that, unplug the valve and see if it changes anything.

The ox sensor and tps are other things I would check.
