    ground effects on a P-Body?

I happen to know of a P-body with what i think are factory groundFX. I'd like some opinions as to whether i should snag them and if i should put them on my P-body. I think they might look pretty cool and whatnot i just don't know if i can get the associated mounting hardware to put them on my car. Im leaning towards getting them as im planning on painting my car this summer anyways...

    any thoughts and opinions?

(although worst case is ill get them and sell them to a fellow TD/TM/BM enthusiast...)

EDIT: are the bumpers different for a P-body with G/FX than without?

they most certainly are . Base model: non painted black (and not made for painting)
midline: same as base style but painted to match car link to picture

Highline/ES: its not as deep as the other two to allow for the foglights link to picture you can see how its curved to match the GFX behind it

I like the P body GFX. if you can find a set for a good price I'd snag them. if if you dont use them. somebody else will

thanks I got a duster that was spec'd without G/FX and fogs so now that i found one, i want to upgrade/restore if you know what i mean. I'll definitely snag the bumper covers then for the whole package

I think i saw someone with a set of P-body G/FX in the for sale section if you still are looking for them.

Just to let you know your going to have to drill out the rivets that are holding the mounting brackets on to the car for the side gfx.

You can reinstall the door pieces with good double sided tape. This is how I mounted mine. I have CSX side GFX with ES bumpers.

I here are a few pictures of the car from carlisle this past year. I just finished the car before carlisle. It was a several year project. The car started out as a base 91 shadow with a 2.5 tbi. The car was black chery. I did all of the work on the car myslef excepet for the machine work, the top and the alignment.

Here are a few links to more pictures on my webshots.

The car runs great but I have it apart because I am pulling the auto and installing an A555. The car is Acura Flemenco Black which has blue and violet pearl in it. Other mods are 4 bucket seats, turbo conversion, custom stayfast top, mustang spoiler, etc...

Re: ground effects on a P-Body?

Sorry to jack the thread - had to see more of that car. thanks!

For the p-body ground effects, just watch out for ripples on the door inserts on the ES ground effect kts. I really like the way that kit looks though, and CSX effects all look good, including this combo of 87/88 and 89 on the black car above. If you get side effects from a CSX, you can avoid the ripple problem on a lot of the ES cars.

Looks great. What double sided tape did you use? That would be much easier than drilling and re-riveting. The only problem I see is my car would be sitting outside all of the time, which I doubt your car does(it looks waay to nice)

If anyone needs any misc. ground fx pieces let me know. I have a full set of sides with all mounting brackets. Just PM me. They are from a 92 ES 2 door

Re: ground effects on a P-Body?

I used 3M double sided tape for moldings. Make sure the surfaces are very clean and free of wax and grease. I highly recommed doing it on a warm day and remember not to press it on until you have it where you want it because it is a project to remove. After it is on make sure you press all over to make sure the tape bonded to both surfaces.

As for the rippling problem, that was one thing I didnt like about the ES effects because they always looked wavy. My CSX effects were also wavy but not that bad. I urethane primed and block sanded mine several times to make them straight.
