We tried to get the holes perfectly even but they came out only close to even.

I did the same with my New Yorker, same tach. It works but mine tends to jump around a lot. I connected it correctly, how jumpy is yours or is it not at all?

I dont like the tach. It is jumpy. The only thing it seems good for to me is figuring out your cruise rpm @ whatever speed, and finding WOT upshift rpm. +/- 200 rpm i'd bet.

I have one of those Harbor Freight tachs too, ironically in the exact same place you put yours in the gauge bezel They suck.

IF it bugs you enough, try some small capacitances across it, damp it a bit.

It doesnt bug Derrick enough, so that's that. I used to own this car but its his now. I just post in here about it because he's not a forum person.

He said he doesnt want to do a tranny swap (either auto or manual) until he can do it in his new garage at the place he's moving to in October. Hurry up and wait.

Man, this was a cool thread.. I should guilt trip Derrick into doing more work on the new yorker!

It's still in one piece and still runs, but still has that shitty auto trans and leaky rear main in it and he just moves it around whenever he needs to. The 2.5 in it that he got the rods and mains checked on before putting it back together seems to have a wristpin noise. We parted out an 89 2.5/520 T1 dayona that was in good working order so that engine/trans is going into the new yorker (it IS getting 5spd swapped). I gave him an 84 caravan auto trans floor shift shifter console to try and make the shifter thing look good, but we havent started the work yet. I'll post pics if we end up using it.

I also gave him a 2pc intake to bribe him into working on his new yorker. Hasnt worked yet, but when it gets fixed this next time around it will now have a 2pc intake and a 5spd swap as the major upgrades. This car has been laughably one-sided over it's history.. it takes and takes. I hope to hell it gives a little more back this next time around! :P
