Ya you have the same one right? When I get home I'm going yo check the input shaft play and see how it is, cause that can wear the clutch out the way mine was. Then get it rebuilt and probably uPgrade to the yellow pp for insurance for slicks

Sent the clutch off to be rebuilt and going to upgrade the pressure plate. Still no coolant line.

I wish, but the plans are to put a spare 340 motor into it.

Its really hard to decide to even go that route with the price of crate motors, you can buy a 408 with around 450hp for 5-6k, seems like a great deal IMO

    Re: My 89 Daytona CS

Update on the car, I spend literally all week putting it back together, got the clutch and Coolant line back monday. Had another issue with the coolant line but no big deal. Went and installed the motor and got it running, note to self no matter how bad the car runs set the dist timing by light!!! Anyways Got it together for the first time Thrusday night, and fought a running issue, and fuel pump wiring issues, where the wires go though the sending unit along with replacing the FP pigtail, thought I fixed that. So finally got it running good friday night and the Throwout bearing was making noise, tore it back apart friday night, Lowered the trans Sat morning and everything looked ok, both of the tabs on the TOB were right, So I Installed another timken bearing I had laying around that I bought before I knew I needed a clutch, thank god I did get it already cause I had to order it. Reinstalled it all and was able to drive it up to my dri Saturday around 4pm. I had a family get together I went to, come back home its raining and same issue with the fuel pump. I'm going to tear the sender out and throw it away and replace it with another used one, I'm tired of this crap. Well anyways thats what todays plans are.

    Re: My 89 Daytona CS

To update I fixed my fuel pump sender issue, but also since I have the fp and headlights hooked to relays the ground wasnt tight on the battery since I was in a hurry to leave towards the end(from pervious post for family things), sender was still bad so it needed to be fixed. I've been driving it around for a while, took it to the local strip last night and it ran alright but is giving me a code 13, I didnt run at the track just watched, I did some tests at work on it with a scan tool, man I have to get one of those things very nice! Tried swapping the map out with an extra with worse luck, today I may do some more diagnosing and see, I also Installed a rear set of nice Pioneers that were donated to me from Ben, thanks! car sounds great with them in! Also found out my transmission leaks slightly, went to work to fix it and it was actually leaking from between a plate that holds the bearings in place, this is the plate located after the moly plate, bummer and Had a valvecover gasket leak, fixed that now the motor is leak free. I was thinking of having your mechanic at work do the trans Since I dont wanna pull the bearing center plate out and have everything come falling out, but the leak is very very minimal. Oh and after I was backing the car out of the shop after fixing VC and attempting the trans I backed into my Girlfriends car, she parked slightly in front of the door and I did look behind me but the dam tint is too dark when its dark out, oh well no biggy, I was honestly more pissed about the trans since I know its something I wont do, body work is easy! Just cracked some paint on the bumper didnt hurt the black part just the red so its really easy to fix just gotta take the time to do it now. The car runs pretty good minus the map code, you can really hear the turbo suck/pushing air, kind of a bummer since the power doesnt hit you like a ton of bricks or as fast as the stocker, Im really interested in what an intercooler will do to the car, since its gotta be a huge drag on the car now, at 15psi it wont spin the tires while driving in first but thats probably good though, dont go anywhere by spinning!

As far as other things My dad ordered a top for the 600es on friday, should be here Wednesday then to install it, that should be interesting I'll post a lot of pictures in its thread to help others out, also ordered a PDR, paintless dent repair tool set Wednesday Should have been here yesterday but its looking more like Monday. I've also started doing painting at work I really enjoy that, especially getting well rounded in the auto body world, I can now about do anything, the only thing I haven't don't at work is major panel repair, like qt panels and box sides. Other recent things I've been working on my bike, 77 RD 400, I thought I had it figured out even rode it down the road about a mile without issues, seemed too good to be true, well it was cause I it has no spark whatso ever on the LH side, after a while, oh the joys of cars and bikes, always working on them.

Oh and another problem came up that seems intermittent, The gas guage seems to stop lowering at 3/4 a tank, I unplug the sender and it drops to empty, which leads me to believe the sender is bad, but I guess it could be the gauge too, thats another thing on the To do list, sure seems like it never really gets smaller no matter how much I do.

    Re: My 89 Daytona CS

Well installed the FP and AFPR and fixed the lean issue, FINALLY AFTER 2 DAM YEARS, and 3 fuel pumps! Got almost stranded last week since my shift cables were getting worn out, Finally installed a new set I bought from Topdollar69 and good as new, its nice not having to muscle the car into gear everytime! While reinstalling the interior for the shifter cables I decided to swap out my crappy BWD o'Riellys headlight switch, what a pile, it kept dinging as if the cars lights were on when the door was open, hell sometimes even when the door was closed, also the lights stopped flipping up but would turn on. So I swapped in a used switch I had laying around and the dinging is gone but the headlights still wont flip up, but I can hear the headlight module clicking, I guess I"ll pull that out tomorrow and try and resoder it, do they sell those new still? How about a headlight switch, as in a chrysler one? Not sure what is next since I have the car running ok now, cept for idle and light throttle its pretty rich in the high 11s, these are some of the first pulls i've been able to make safely since the s60 turbo installed, and frankly Im disappointed But I think it might be from the tune I went with the MP style cals and it is right in the mid 11s for AFR, but I do need to install the evo intercooler I have one of these days I'm sure the stocker is killing the car.

oh and the gas gauge was fixed a couple months ago

    Re: My 89 Daytona CS

Just fix the original headlight module, it's pretty easy to do. I don't think they are available anymore. I'm not very impressed with my S60 turbo either. The stocker spooled much quicker, and seemed like it made more power, but I haven't done any tuning yet.

    Re: My 89 Daytona CS

I tried to resoder the original module in my car and it ended up having the same issues a couple days later, so lucky back then junkyard had some of these cars, so I took an extra one and was done with it, now I guess I'll do it all over again. I took the car to thunder valley Friday night did some terrible passes, which didn't surprise me but i figured screw it I'm out here might as well try. The car would start to pull then the CEL would come on indicating knock, so I retarded the timing as a band aid fix and no luck, finally got really stupid and disconnected the knock sensor and then it misfired n ran like crap still, swapped in a new coil and went for a run then the car wouldn't shift into 2nd and 4th ok so its broke drove it home and the dam car fixed itself.....no ---- I had no 2nd and 4th it was all floppy and half way home it was completely fine....what an interesting night

It sounds like you lost one of the clips on your shift cable, or it came loose. Since you just replaced the cables, I would double check where they clip into the bracket on the transmission.

    Re: My 89 Daytona CS

The clip had come off of the shifter cable, all fixed now. Today I finally fixed the headlight issue I was having, they were not going up and down, found out a solder point in the headlight control module had come loose, solder it and good as new. now if i could just get the dam car to run right, it has an IAT showing out of range so I'll swap that out next.

    Re: My 89 Daytona CS

Well some bad news last summer the Daytona suffered from some hail damage, thankfully I had comprehensive coverage on the car and was able to get some money to fix it. This included 15 or so dents on the hood, a couple dents in the fenders, one in the Drivers door, roof had around 13 dents on it, and the hatch had about 10. Along with breaking part of the hatch glass moulding, and I ended up getting money for a new windshield for it too. These still have not been fixed but will be this summer.

Decided to fix a couple spots on my Daytona, its had a couple problems since the repaint and I am now addressing them. The rear bumper was my own fault, basically It was dark out and I was backing up, looked in both mirrors and rear window(tinted glass) didn't see a car and backed into my ex's car 3yrs ago. Bummer but hey its my own fault, anyways it didn't ruin the black on the rear bumper thankfully, so Time to fix and respray it.

As for the other parts, The front end of the hood had gotten some rock chips over the years, and started to slightly rust, before it got out of hand I decided to fix it

The Light cover had a big rock chip in it and I am repainted that also:
