which chip do i have and is this eraseable so that i can use it again. i got these when i bought a previous car with a socketed smec and now i want to use the smec for a calibration but need the prom chips so will this work or should i buy some new[IMG][/IMG]
It is reuseable but you need a UV light to erase it. That window is where the light gets in to wipe it out.

The UV chip erasers can be had for under $23 on ebay. Search UV Eprom Eraser. Should take less than 10 minutes to erase a chip, but the device I saw had a timer for up to 60 minutes.
The main EEprom chip that everyone was using (27SF512) is obsolete now.

Looks like the right chip to me. That's the one that is obsolete now (from mouser).
