I am having a bit of trouble getting these things in, and I just noticed that they only fit '89 and earlier brackets. The OD of the bushing looks to be about 1/8" bigger than the ID of the hole in the bracket. I tried pressing them in in a vice, but of course the bushing compresses, it doesn't pop in. Maybe I have a 1990-newer bracket? How do i tell?

Actually they should fit all the brackets through 90 model year, 91 is when the new bracket was introduced. The 91 and up brackets use 4 long bolts to attach the compressor to the bracket vs two bolts and two studs/nuts on the 85-90 style.

I had the same problem with mine. I finally said forget it. The stock bushings are fine for now.

Mine fit perfectly........I believe there is a front and rear bushing
Have you tried them in both positions?
