    T4 Balance shafts

Took apart my VNT motor this weekend and the wear resistance is remarkable. Does anyone know how much play is acceptable for the bal shaft chain? There are tensioners there but I think they are worn and there seems to be plenty of slop IMO. I know most people remove them but I have no plan to since the car is being kept mostly stock. Also are they the same as a T-3?

    Re: T4 Balance shafts

You put a .039" shim between the chain and tensioner shoe, push it up with some pressure, tighten the nuts and remove the shim.

If you can't remove the slack then you need a new chain and shoe.

Not sure if TIII/TIV are the same.
