    throttle body - exhaust dump

Before this gets moved... This is an exauhst post. lol

Came up with a ghetto idea (and will probably run with it.) I came across a 2.5 inch TB from a Ford Taurus for free and bought a piece of 2.5" pipe from Oriely's...

That's right ... you guessed it. A home build cutout built for under 15 bucks.

I'd like some opinions. I figure most will say to save up for an electric or manual cutout, but aren't the electric ones made of aluminum and bolt to a flange?

I have taken all the plastic off of the TB and am making a set of billet bushings at work for the butterfly shaft this week. I'll post pics after a while when I get it installed.

OK guys. The time is here! I have gotten it mostly put together. Don't mind the radiator clamp. I'll be welding that bracket on too. I tried it out with a pressure regulator and gauge and it appears it will open around 7 to 10 psi. No switches or cables... Totally stealthy! Can't wait to get it mounted under the Rampage. Here are a couple pics for you.

By the way I have under 8 dollars in the whole setup.
Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Damn photobucket is down. Will put pics up as soon as it comes back up.

I was sure going to 'move' it, but decided to 'rename' it instead. Neat idea...

Thanks for renaming it. At least now it's spelled right

I think it will seal fine. When in vac it will pull it closed (around 20-25 vac.) and it opens up at 7-10 psi.

Oh and BTW. If anyone else ends up making one, a mitsu wastgate actuator will not work because it doesn't have enough travel.

    Neat idea!
You could probably even add an old boost control, cannister purge, or baro solenoid in the pneumatic line so that you could keep it closed under boost and open it with a switch if you wanted to.

That is a hella cool idea!!!

I'm sure you could get some small motor to operate it if you wanted it electrical...maybe a wiper motor...though that would be kind of big

It was in the scrap bin at work. It was for some fixture to cut weedeater tubes or something. I rebuilt it and modified the internals a little to makt it work on VAC and boost.

Yeah when I get it installed I'll try to get a vid. If not I'll hook it up inside the truck and drive with it so you can see it open and close.

Also I like having it controlled by boost. That way if anyone wants to race me on the street I don't have to remember to open it. Gives it a cleaner interior appearance. Plus when we take off it'll throw them off guard when it opens all of a sudden and sounds like my muffler fell off.

That's one reason I went with this cylinder. The whole cylinder and line MIGHT way around a pound and with the Rampage, even though it's already hella light. I am still trying to find ways to make it lighter.

hmm that's kinda like how the exhaust works on the new(er) corvettes stock only controlled by vacuum.
