    Safely removing A/C

I need to get the A/C unhooked to get to the head gasket, and this thing is track destined anyway so I am just taking it out for good.

I really DO NOT want to just let a bunch of R-12 leak out into the atmosphere. And my van is completely immobile right now.

I want to get back to work on this thing someone please give me some ideas.

Sean I don't know about down there, but here in BC r12 is no longer available commercially, just r134. As a result it has become reasonably valuable. Check with used car lots for mobile ac guys, they may come to your place suck the system down just to keep the freon for future "cash" jobs.

If there is any pure gas left, then a shop that does A/C recovery should remove it for free. The stuff is pricey now. If there are any contaminates such as propane then they probally wont touch it.
