I'm not sure you will generate enough heat to make the tire really "work". It's a cantilever tire, so you can get a wider tire on a narrow rim for a better contact patch, but it's not going to flex like a drag tire.

Ever notice how the sidewall of a drag slick wrinkles and flexes to take up the shock of launch and allow a larger contact patch at low speeds? Road race tires don't do that. The sidewalls are very stiff. Stiffer than street tires. Not good for drag racing. Plus they are a harder compound than drag slicks and do not respond well to burnouts.

I wonder if they would give an winkle effect during a launch or if that matters to much on a fwd as well.

The road slicks i had on the red glh did get better hole shots than street tires but had no comparison against a drag slick.

I don't know. Low air pressure with little sidewall flex may result in premature bead separation when combined with high horsepower torque. Just a bit of theorizing. Probably won't have a problem and if the price is right, why not try?

Yes, but due to us being FWD, does the flex really matter?

As for the compound, thats what I was thinking, just thinking out loud as they say they are the stickiest compound available.

The guy wants $59 or best off plus shipping for a pair. If they were local, I'd try them.

What makes a drag slick work will make it useless for cornering and vice versa.

+1 to not a good idea to use them as a drag slick. That flex takes a lot of shock out and helps the tire to grip on the launch. Slicks on non-drag races aren't made for launching.

Definitely...keep the shock out of the driveline and allows the tire to hook. Plus, it looks cool!

No less than it would on RWD.

No just not much traction. Maybe a bit more than radials though, but not much...

Re: Do road race slicks make ok drag slicks?

actually they have a lot more grip than street tires but you won't notice it until after the launch. if you're going from street tires and maybe spinning through the top of first or into second, going to those tires would definitely help you in that area compared to street tires, but on launch they'll be pretty crappy. definitely dont compare favorably to slicks or even drag radials.
