    Question Sloppy clutch pedal

Replacing the rubber pad on the clutch pedal today. I noticed there was a good amount of what I perceived to be excessive slop in the pivot point. Where the pedal can move side to side by about 1/2 of an inch or maybe slightly more.

looked it up and there are 2 bushings (#4 in image) in the pedal where it sits on the pivot/support shaft.

    (clicky pic)

Do those bushings have a tendancy to wear out ? or is this side to side movement normal for this particular setup ?

I've pulled a lot of pedals out and even on the higher mileage ones those white plastic bushings have always been in alright shape. Side to side movement is unacceptable though and could mean your bushings are worn.

Looks like another thing to add to the never shortening list then...

After you get the cable out of the way and remove the retaining clip & washer. Does the pedal just slide off the end of the shaft ?

Yep it should. Or if it's too tight you might have to remove the 15mm nut on the end of the shaft and pull it out.

Looks like these are NS1 and upon removal one was cracked.
So I guess its time to fab something up and make it work

If you are making them from Bronze or Delrin or something, make 10, I'll buy 3-4 from you to tighten up the pedal slop

Starting at the hardware store. bronze or oilite

I just wish more people would speak up about needing this kind of stuff instead of blowing it off though.

show a vendor that there is a market for these little bits and pieces to keep these cars going.

    Re: Sloppy clutch pedal

Anyone happen to have a spare clutch pedal assembly laying around and could give me some measurements ?

pivot bar size, size of the hole in the clutch pedal, overall thickness.

I found a reinforced nylon one on mcmaster awhile back that looked like it might work with some minor trimming. But I forgot to write everything down
