    Bearing removal

What is the best way to remove the bearings from the input shaft without damaging the shaft?

    Thanks,

    Justin

I knock the cage and rollers off the bearing race, then grind the race thats left on the shaft until it's very thin in one spot... then it will just stress crack and fall off.

    Hope this makes sence.

couldnt you use a brass chisel to persuade it to crack at the thin spot without worrying about damaging the shaft and help to keep that wheel away from the shaft

if you are throwing the race away, you weld on it and pop it off.

This is only for a cup that is inside a bore. DO NOT do this for a race on a shaft as the weld will shrink the race and only make it tighter. The shrinking is why it works when pressed in a bore.

The way Turbo_Rampage described it is how I do it. I just usually use a dremel and cut of disc and get it real thing and then a good hit with a chisel will crack it.
