1990 turbo van with Garrett - vac line issue

My 1990 turbo caravan has a garrett turbo. The Mitsu had two vac lines. This one of course has just one line to the waste-gate canister leading to the solenoid. Normally the solenoid has a vac line, this one does not.
How do I fix this? I hooked the waste-gate line directly to manifold vacuum for now to get it from over boosting. What is the correct way to plumb this?

Grainger valve, or the factory setup is a line off the nipple on the turbo outlet to the wastegate actuator with a T, off the T you run that line to the correct port on the solenoid since 2.5 T1 uses a bleed style actuation. grainger is the simplest way.

I would agree, grainger is the easiest but this vacuum diagram should help-

    this vacuum diagram should help
BUT the vacuum is different because of the changed turbo.
    Do I just pick a different car/year?
    NOPE....
    ...the T-1 is mitsu, different!
...89 T-2 has 2 lines from the solenoid, mine has one.

I have never used one or installed one, or seen one used. I would like to make this set up the "correct" way, if I can. That is without the grainger. BUT, if it works, I will be glad to use it.
    But not sure how.

off the nipple on the turbo outlet
    This garret has no nipple.

ok then from the line from your manifold put a T in the line, run 1 to the actuator and 1 to the solenoid, hook it up like 89 2.5 T1 Mitsu.

Just before the vacuum line goes to the turbo.

no way mine gave me 12 with no problems... untill when i tightened my waste gate actuator to much and maybe ran hoses that were to thin

now i know i have to re adjust the wg actuator but now i just run an open tee in between the pressure source and wg actuator .... i guess i have the wg actuator adjusted perfect so that the bleed in the line lets it go to 12 psi and then the hoses cant flow enough so that the wg opens up

One end of the MBC goes to the WG, the other end to the compressor outlet area or intake vacuum.

Re: 1990 turbo van with Garrett - vac line issue

I also went from a Mitsubishi Turbo to a Garret on my van. I'll explain what I did. When I rebuilt my engine I put a couple of extra ports on the intake opposite if the throttle body. This goes to my boost gauge in the van.

Look at the blue vacuum block on my intake in this picture:

It has 3 ports. The one the left goes to my fuel pressure regulator, the one in the middle goes to the map sensor, the one one the right goes to my grainger valve which then goes to the waste gate. The two steel lines on my throttle body, the 1/4" one goes to the charcoal canister and the 3/16" one goes to the purge solenoid.

My new grainger valve set up is here:
    http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=29939

I do not have my wastegate connected to the "bleed" solenoid. I just left it plugged into the computer so it doesn't set a code, but it is in no way connected to my wastegate.

So one end of the MBC goes to manifold vacuum, the other to the wastegate?

    Is the MBC on backwards?

MBC is manual boost control aka Grainger, easier to type,

    Who's MBC, homemade or bought?

Try hooking up the wastegate to manifold vacuum and you should get around 4-5 psi.

Ok, I thought you had an MBC, my bad. Heres the factory diagram. Do you have the bleed/orifice?

Again, can't do it like this, the 1990 only has ONE vac hose coming out of the solenoid.
