    Timing Tables

I have a question in regards to the timing tables in D-Cal. This question is applicable to any cal really...

I've always heard that timing retard in boost should be somewhere around 1 to 1.5 degrees per pound of boost (as a starting point). I've noticed that all the cals I have looked at the timing actaully starts pulling before boost. Why not run advance up to 0 deg. vacuum and then retard accordingly?

Also...how do I go about figuring what total timing is going to be per lb. of boost in D-Cal or Chem? Is there an easy way to do this?
