    88 shadow not starting

    I am selling the car and I wanted to make sure everything was right and to check for any other problems. So I drove over to my friends house and it was driving fine. Timing was spot on and there are no vacuum leaks. I pulled the plugs to do a compression check and compression was good on all 4. Plugs were black from running to rich. I think it was because it was leaning out and the car went into limp mode. I pulled the new o2 sensor and cleaned it. I bumped my Fuel pressure up to 33psi which for a stock smec running +40 injectors is good. It was running at 29psi. boost was set to 6 psi so if it did run lean it wasn't to lean.

    I am getting spark at each plug wire and I am getting fuel pressure but for some reason the car cranks but it is not firing. I had the battery unplugged so it would have reset the computer. Now with it back on the only code I get is 55.

    Does it sound strange while cranking like maybe the timing belt broke or came loose and jumped teeth? If you have an extra HEP try it too. Also make sure you have the plug wires pushed all the way into the cap.

    If you reset the computer and cranked the engine over with just 55 as a result of pulling the codes it shouldn't be a HEP, but who knows.

    +1 for the timing belt. Are you getting power to the whole fuse block? If you jump the coil will the FP kick on? Does it even turn over?

    Timing is spot on. motor turns but its like its not getting spark or no fuel or theres no compression. it just turns and turns and turns.

    You should be able to tell if it's not getting enough compression to run.

    I am just describing what it seems like. I know there is compression because I did a compression check 2 hours earlier

    Run a jumper wire from the +bat terminal to the + side of the coil. The FP should kick on and run. If that happens it is the HEP or the ASD relay or the wiring thereof most likely. If the FP won't kick on then start trouble shooting the pump and wiring.

    Could be a weak coil too.

    So I know its getting fuel and spark. The FP is fine. I am not getting any codes. I put in the stg 5 smec to see if my smec crapped out but it still won't fire. None of the fuse links have shorted out. I am going to pull the fuel rail and see the injectors are firing but I am at a loss.

    Plugs were fouled and there was a broken wire on the injector harness, but its going now.

    I think its a vacuum leak thats causing it to run lean therefor causing the code 51. I just don't care any more. I want to sell it and some one else and can mess with it I am only getting 16in of vacuum since I had a forum member do some work on the car while before I was getting over 20in. On decel though My vacuum is normal.
