    Bad Ecm

I have a 89 SMEC that was giving random code 54's, with random "misses" and stalling. Wires and HAL fine. A new ECM fixed the problem.

Does this ECM have any use? I did not tear it open, but the pins look fine.

Is it possible the .bin file became corrupted over time? or is it more likely there is physical damage to the computer?

I was just wondering if I socketed the thing and put a new chip in it if it would be worth my time, or if I should just throw it away.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I wouldn't throw it away, but I also wouldn't know what to look for other than corrosion around the connector etc.
