Question for all the Shadow Convertible owners

I have a question for all you guys.

I'm replacing my trunk lid with a cleaner trunk lid. When I tore down the newer trunk lid, the fiberglass panel with the 3rd brake light had a bead of RTV. The bead ran the width of the lid towards the front.

Now, I checked my crap lid. It doesn't have this bead of RTV. So I'm wondering if this a yearly change or something down by an owner. My car is a 91, but the trunk lid is a 93.

get a Rampage theres no trunk to fix lol. the rtv on yours may have been due to a leak around the 3rd brake light.

i do not recall rtv being used on my old convertible....

kinda sounds like a fix for a leak to me as well. my old 86 300zx had rtv all over the place for leaks. lol! (it had t-tops and the taillight housings leaked)

I've owned 3 Shadows, a 93 Ragtop and a 90 & a 93 hardtop, so yes my answer was about my ragtop.

JAMES of course i am only speculating but it is doubtful a production car like a shadow would ever have a bead of rtv applied on the assembly line in an area where costmetics are important like on top of the trunk....instead, if anything it would have a gasket from the factory. i would head to the dodge dealer and look at the illustrated parts catalog and see if there is a gasket for the 3rd tail-lite housing.
