pretty sure it was fuel. either way it sucked.

That's something else that has me banging my head on and off, all I can find is '89 up is supposed to have the CCD. But my '88 mini has an overhead console that appears to allow for a trip computer function that can only work with CCD, so I am not understanding why they even labelled the buttons and hinted in the manual about the trip computer if they couldn't do it in '88. Mine was a November vehicle, so probably about 6 months into the '88 run, so wondering if it actually snuck in on 88 1/2 or not...
It is my understanding that the 2002 PT turbo had the auto stick and was the last year they had a separate controller. My plan was to get one of these and the computer and just run it as a stand-alone. My limited research would seem to indicate that it would work just fine in that configuration.

Does anyone have an '89 or 90 trans controler? I have a '95 one, but I'd like to start by digging out the code from the earliest one - mostly because they flowcharts for it are in the original patent. Should make it easier to decode.
I have a 92 and a 93 tranny computer if those will help at all.

Maybe, but then it was paired to the 2.4L turbo (the one I'll try to get anyway), so it might not be too bad at all, especially if I still have an 8V when i do it. After I learn a bit more about the controls, it might be possible to do some kind of manual controller, but I'll start with the factory stuff and see how that goes.

if you leave it in low it will shift a 5900 all gears
The PCS controller is a great peice but I'd really like to find a less
expensive way to control it this trans. There's a Megasquirt modual they are working on..
I was referring to the torque management thing that cuts power during shifts to save your tranny and make life boring. i believe it cuts fuel. im certain it sucks.Huh?
OK, I did some poking at my SMEC collection tonight. The CCD bus chip is missing from each of the 4 turbo SMEC logic boards I have. But, it is there on the TBI board (I wonder why? P/N ends in 4040, it's the lower most right hand 14-pin chip). I don't have any V6 SMEC's, but I assume it will be on them. Luckily, the V6 SMEC will run turbo code and a turbo car. So, if you want to use the stock A604 controller, it should be as simple as getting a V6 SMEC and chipping it with a T1-based custom cal. Of course, you'll have to add the CCD bus wires to the harness and 60-way. But it should then talk to the 604 controller.
Before any one asks - it would be too difficult to add the CCD bus chip and associated components to a turbo board.
Next up - I got to get an early TCM and suck the code out of it and get to work on customizing it.

'89,'90, and I assume '91. Maybe even '92 or '93. I just need an early non-flashable computer. The earlier the better, I think. It will be closer to what they published in the patent docs. Since I'm sure the code changed over the years.
