    Rebuilding my 525

Here is a perfect example of why it is hard to believe what previous owners tell you.
I felt bad when I wasn't able to go to Mid Ohio and catch him racing a couple months ago. After seeing this, Nope. I was told it was rebuilt right before he found the A-555 that is currently in it. You look and see if it was rebuilt. Sorry for the low light, but you can see what I'm talking about on the larger gear.

Also found a broken 1-2 shift fork. The 5th tranfer gear on the main shaft is just a "tad" loose also. Hmmm, not hard to understand why it decided to lighten itself of a few teeth.

Been there, done that. I got a shirt, but used it to clean up the mess, so....

My thought is, the 5th gear on the main gear shaft had play and the constant hitting of the drive gear (the one in your first photo) just eventually wore the gear down. Thankfully I found all the missing teeth in the side cover.

I was thinking the exact same. However, they aren't worn down, they are snapped off.
EDIT: I see they are the same. Hey Mini, you end up with an extra one of those, by chance?????

You can pick up another at my house on your way to bigbruddas house. Omni had 100k on the odometer but I never drove the car so unknown condition. I also made a minigts style quick disconect shift linkage that I am not going to use now that I have a 555. PM me an offer if your interested.
