    Opinions on Goodyear F1 tires?

I have found a good deal on a set of "clearance" Goodyear F1 DS3 tires in the size I'm looking for and if I get them before the end of the month of October, there is a $50 rebate on a set of four. In fact they are even cheaper than the BF Goodrich G Force Sport tires I was figuring on getting. The Goodyears are normally around $170 each I think for the 205/50-16s I'm looking for. I found a place selling them for $72 each.

In my experience, OEM Goodyear tires aren't very good and definately not worth the high price to replace them with another set. I have heard that their non-OEM performance tires though are very good tires. What are your opinions?

I always shy away from Goodyear tires. Like you said, any vehicle I had that came with Goodyears was changed to anything else as quickly as possible. However I have actually heard alot of good things about the GSD3's.

Re: Opinions on Goodyear F1 tires?

I have been running the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's for about 3 years. I absolutely love them. They get good traction for Street tires and handling is great. Even at 135+mph. I got my GSD3's on sale AND with Friends and Family discount and it ended up costing me around $650 for a set of 4 with Goodyear Roadhazard Warranty. I have approx. 20k miles on them and still lots of tread (probably about 1/2). For $72 each, I'll take 4 more, ANYTIME!
I personally like Goodyears. However, I do not like the OEM-Factory tires. I am running Goodyear Wrangler Slient Armor tires on my 02 Dakota Quad 4x4 and as far as I am concerned, there is noting better for that vehicle and my type of driving.

I'm not a BadYear fan, but for the price, I'd take them. TireRack shows that tire for $67, which you don't have to pay tax on but you have to factor in shipping. In my opinion they are a better choice than the G-Force Sports. I take it you are looking for a UHP Summer Tire?

Have you looked at the Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2? They are priced relatively cheap in your size. In my opinion there isn't a better tire out there in that size, unless you're going to a track only tire. They're $80 off a set of 4 at Costco until Sunday, too.

Actually, I may have to pay the 7% sales tax as I'm in Indiana. The tires would be for my Neon R/T and it only gets driven in the Summer (i.e. nice weather months) and it has never seen snow. That's what my '05 Ram is for.

I like my G-Force Sports on my LeBaron but I'll admit I don't have a lot of miles on them. I HATE the Eagle RS-As that are on the Neon now. I do like Michelin tires as I have the Pilot Sports on my SRT-4 but there aren't any Costcos within an hour drive of here. I was pricing these Goodyears at Tire Rack and they were $72 yesterday and dropped down to $67 today! Even factoring in the shipping, that's a deal! Discount Tire, which is less than 3 miles away and more than likely where I would go to have them mounted and balanced anyway, are listing the exact same F1 tire on their site as $195/each!!!

I honestly wasn't looking to buy tires this fall but rather wait until the Spring but for $67/each and the $50 rebate on top of that, I may have to make the purchase now!

Re: Opinions on Goodyear F1 tires?

Good News! The price for these at The Tire Rack is now down to $56/each!!! As soon as I get my roof done this week and I make sure I have it paid for, I'm ordering! Oh and don't forget about the Goodyear $50 rebate for a set of four that expires Oct. 31st!

I'm with you Fleck, The RS-A's are the worst. Dry traction is good, but if it gets even remotely humid out, your all over the roads. Those RS-A's almost put me sideways right in front of a gravel truck in my Caprice. Firestones soon made their way on it.

Re: Opinions on Goodyear F1 tires?

I ordered the tires today for a total of $278 not including the $50 rebate. I'll let everyone know what I thing after I get them.

You paid less for those than I did for a set of whitewall 195/75 R14 Yokohamas for my Imperial!

Fleck, what do you think of these tires? Tirerack still has the $50 rebate going and I'm looking at the GS D3 for a set of 18"s.

225/35/18 is $109 which is less than $450/set with shipping and rebate factored in. Seems pretty good and the reviews at tirerack are all very good.

Re: Opinions on Goodyear F1 tires?

I wish I could tell you first hand what I think of them but they are still bundled together exactly how they were when they got delivered to me from Tire Rack. I haven't had them put on the car let alone mounted on the wheels. What can I say, it's still winter here and my Neon doesn't come out when the weather is bad and there's salt on the ground. I did drive it for the first time this week as it is back into the 50s but there is still some salt on the roads you can see and it is supposed to drop back into the 30s next week and they are forecasting some snow. Having them in person, they look to be a very good quality tire. Sorry I can't give you more real impression of them. Oh and I did already get my $50 rebate back from Goodyear on them so the final price was $228 for a set of four or $57/tire!
