Nicely done Simon I can hardly imagine how much work it has taken to get you to 12's but just from reading various threads/posts about your quest, it felt like a lot-just to read about it

Simon, you should talk to Terry (gasketmaster), he has an 8V van into the 11's so I'm sure you can do it too since you can spin your 2.5L to 7500 RPM and all Just bustin your balls there.
I'm sure Terry can give you some pointers on traction. Although a 12.8 run with a 2.0 short time is impressive. Lean out that fueling, start getting some 1.80's, and you got yourself low 12's right there.

Great going Simon! I think that 50 trim turbo is just right for your combo and the heavy van. It's all fine tuning/chassis tuning from here. Gus used two position boost for launching Mini.

Read your post again. What psi are you running in your slicks and which ones? How much boost are you leaving with out of the hole? Maybe a 2 step would help you get through 1st?

Re: I finally broke the camels back, 12's baby.

Thanks guys, for some reason, I can't stop chuckling this morning,

Yeah, If I lost a 800-1000 lbs, this thing would haul but no go, it stays full weight.

JT, I've always used a splash of race gas, except a few times this year because everytime I ran C16, she slowed down big time, All they had was C12 so thats what I used, looks like I found a winner.

I've got winter now to play with the cal, fix the MAP issue-any idea's? and fine tune for next year. I should be able to go faster with less boost and try the S50 wheel again.

Kelly-Slicks are old and tired M@H 24.5x8.5x15 slicks on Rota Slipstreams at 14 psi. I need to buy new ones next year, these are pretty well done. I think by the end of the night, they are down to around 10-12 as they flatten out, no tubes. Not sure what boost I leave at, I kinda play it by ear, I would think I am leaving at around 10-15 psi then I can't hold it back anymore.

I hit 3rd gear at around the 1000 ft mark. That run, I pulled a 8.2 1/8th mile,

Forgot to mention-I had some guy come over who races a big block V8 Chevy, runs 11's and was so impressed, he chatted my ear off and wants to build a tube frame SC with my kind of motor, RWD.

    One more thing-

A big thanks to NT Machine-Rob and Jen. Without them redoing my engine, I never would have done it and Jason aka Motorbreath who made my crank pulley spacer.

Sounds like the slicks might be the issue then. You might be able to drop a psi or 2 and check after each pass. I set mine initially at 12 cold and after that first pass they are about 15.

Yeah, you know me... new motor, new tune, race gas (100% no mix) is cheap insurance... glad you found a winner

It was pretty slick last night, the traction wasn't that good, lots of RWD cars were spinning badly-running slicks.

Nice work buddy. I'd call you but you don't have the phone thing going on right now. You should get online or try your internet phone that you used last time and give me a ring later. Might be out in the ridge.
