    Car not charging. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The car is an 89 Daytona Shelby with a 2.5l auto but has a 5spd converion.

I put a new motor in it last weekend and it started up just fine, even pulled out of the garage just fine. We then went to insure it then when we went to go start it up again nothing, just clicking and what not. Ok so the battery died. Gave it a jump and pretty much as soon as I dissconnected the cables it just died.

I checked all the fuses and fuseable links and they are all fine. Checked and re-checked all connections and nothing. Broke out the volt meter and EVERY where thats supposed to have voltage and everything thats supposed to be ground is grounding.

I dont know what could have gone so wrong with in the 50' it was driven. Any help would be great guys, Thanks!

Not sure but would testing voltage on the wires from the alternator indicate if it was working or not? I have no idea, just asking. It would seem like the alternator is dead if you pulled cables off and it died. That would be my only guess. The starter wouldn't turn over at all if you had an issue getting any power to it, so I would look at what keeps your battery charged. But I'm just guessing.

Well, it is possible that you have a bad battery, possibly a shorted cell. They're only good for about 4-5 years (normally).

Try a known good battery. If it starts okay then check your charging system.

The alternator is controlled directly by the Power Module, by a signal sent to it from the Logic Module.

    You getting any codes?

I checked the feild wiers at the alt. also checked for the grounds at the alt. and they all seem fine. The battery is just fine seeing as it came out of a running car and was just fine and alive befor it went into the 89.

Diodes go bad. Power in, but it can't transmogrify the AC signal into DC.

Now, who is the first to guess where I got that from. I'll send you a tube of mopar gear sealant.
