    SMEC socket types

What types of sockets does everyone use when socketing a smec? Can I use a regular zif socket or is it too tall?

I have one already done for sale $50. shipped in U.S. I just use the cheap 28 pin sockets, about 30 cents each.

Same here. As long as you're careful not to bend the pins when removing the chip, the regular sockets seem to work just fine.

The machine pin ones are preferred. I have heard you can use a zif but it has to be a low profile one and you need to cut away part of the plastic on the back of the board that is on top of it.

no thanks i'm socketing a smec for someone else, i've done lm's before and I use zif sockets for those. So I just ordered the cheap sockets for the smec, thanks
