Sorry for such a noob question, but how much taller are they and what (TBI I assume) cars did they come in? Any easy way to ID? Thanks guys!

i think they were 88 only im not positive my 88 reliant wagon had one in itim guessing any 88 2.5 is a tall deck and i beleive its 8 mm taller?or 11? idr lol the dodge garage would have it
87 and 88 IIRC 2.5 is a tall block, 89+ is not. Cant recall what the hiegth difference is.
whats iirc?
If I Recall Correctly.
yo can tell i am a newbie
I think deep down we are all still newbies
86-88 2.5 tbi's were tall block iirc. they were .5 inch taller deck iirc. I've got one but im thinking about slapping it into my aries for a functional tall/block auto tbi car and then sell that for $400 or 500 bucks and someone can drive it home.

I'm pretty sure just the rods are longer. But it could be rods and pistons both different.
Whoever said 86-88 is correct, but an 86 TB is very rare. Most are 88's actually that I've seen anyway.
A good way to ID, although not 100% accurate all the time, is the 2.5 tall block should have a round timing belt. The 2.5 TB still should also have the fuel pump block off plate IIRC, so fuel pump block off plate + round tooth belt should = tall block 2.5. But you never know because I've seen modded cars with some crazy weird crap in the junkyard all the time. Plus I've heard some crazy stuff like some early build common blocks coming with a block off plate! Chrysler did some weird stuff. So be careful!
matt is correct... i just sold my 88 tb and it had a fuel pump block off plate and a round tooth belt..(im almost positive i could go look at the pulley i kept with the cam)
edit: the rods were longer... if you look on the dodge garage theres one rod with a different weight and i think its 8 mm longer i was thinking about running a 2.5 crank in a tall deck block with regular length rods and 2.2 pistons... but the numbers didnt add up
