Been a little while for the van.... Small update on it.
Blew the headgasket a few weeks ago while dialing in the ghetto-cut out raiser. Went lean, cylinder pressures rose, and poof there it went.
So now we're throwing on a ported 2 piece intake and FWD Performances fuel rail my dad bought many lightyears ago along with Turbos Unleashed's FPR adapter with all braided lines. I'm also tossing back in Christian's (Bubba) G-head cal so we don't make an oopsies again. It felt a tad lazy before, that's why I didn't use it, but I think we'll have to go through it again once I get it running.
Pics to follow...
Will it be @ SDAC?
Sucks you blew a headgasket. That cal I gave you was way, way too conservative, but it was a place to start. We'll revise it once you get everything going again.
Oh, not so good. Highway cooling is actually worse than before. New fan has less shroud than my old fan. I'm going to be building some ductwork and block off some of the open areas around the radiator.
Highway cooling could be an aerodynamic issue if you've got a plastic bumper on it, there was a TSB on it for the V6 vans which all had the "premium" bumper. Basically it doesn't bottom feed as well as it should.
Edit: gah thought you were talking about a minivan, now not sure you are.
Nope, P body. Fixed my issue this past week.
Finished the feed line, TurbosUnleashed stock fuel pressure reg. adapter came in today as well.
Waiting on intake manifold to come back from paint then I'll bolt it together, finish the return line and get it done.
In the meantime.....
Bryan,
Be careful with that pressure regulator adapter. I had problems with mine tearing up the O-ring and leaking, that's why I went with the new Aeromotive FPR. Makes adjusting the pressure easier too.
What's the 3rd picture of?
Yea, I tried smoothing mine out, but it didn't work. I'd go with an external FPR and sell/keep your stock type FPR.
What the heck happened to your VW block?
Hm, I smoothed mine out on the exit and chamfered the seat where the regulator sits down. Just installed and looked like it went right in with no worries. But we'll see when we kick on the pump.
Oh, the VW? Cracked the wrist pin and it snowballed from there. Theres actually 3 holes in my block now.
Blocks don't work so well with so many extra holes...
OhioRob is coming over today and we're putting it back together. Pics to follow.
Don't happen to have an extra re-buildable non-lock-up A413 laying around do you?
Doing work, son!
OhioRob came over and we got the head on. I started putting some stuff back together and slowly it's coming back to life. Been real busy trying to get my Volkswagen running. Finally that's done (so I hope) so I can move on.
Where she sits.
Purrrrteeyy.......

Dad doesn't know, but this is going in soon.
