Officially, the Official Turbo Minivan Build Page

I know many of you know my van from last season. For those who don't, I bought the van 2 years ago after my Spirit caught on fire. The salvageable parts off the Spirit went to the van and the van got a few quick mods. Of those, included a T3/T04e 50 trim, a MBC and a HKS SSQV BOV. Last season I ran a best of 13.62 at 100.4mph on 21psi with alky.

Well 2 years later, I traded the van to my dad for his turbo Acclaim. I was in need of a reliable car and he wanted to keep the van close. I still do all the external building and tuning on the van. My life sucks, right?

Onto what you all came for!

When I first went to look at the van.

It lived stock for a mere few days.

After the intercooler, MBC, and ghetto intake we added the T3/T04e Super 50 trim turbo.

    Fast forward a few months...

I got some money and went a tad nuts. I went ahead and purchases the following.

    Devilzown Base Alcohol Injection kit
TurbosUnleashed AFPR, 52pph injectors, 255L/Hr Walbro fuel pump, Polyurethane front and side engine mounts, ARP head studs, and an adjustable cut out eliminator
    Autometer 5" Tach w/ a shift light
    Autometer 0-100psi oil pressure gauge
    AEM Uego Wideband

All the gauges I from Summit and one fellow on here I purchased the wideband from.

The poly engine mount from Johny/Chris @ TU

    Regulator and 52pphs

The alcohol kit from Chance (best money spent, btw!)

As mentioned earlier with all these goodies at 21psi it ran 13.62 at 100mph. I had it on the dyno earlier the year with the same mods and it put down 248WHP/301 Lb/Ft. This was actually done on a TBI head with the valves floating away at 4,200+. I'll post the sheet later once I upload it.

Now, after I traded it...I blew it up in February, this year. Afterwards, my dad and I went nuts on it.

+1mm oversize G-head valves from FWD Performance

    ARP rod bolts

    Sealed Power rings

    Forged Venolia pistons

With the +1 valves we had Rob Pachner port and polish a G-head for us and also install Mopar high tension valve springs, which is also held down with ARP head studs.

    This brings us to today.

    Yes, the BOV is there!

Re: Officially, the Official Turbo Minivan Build Page

3" exhaust with a TurbosUnleahsed 2.5" downpipe elbow

The rest of the 3" with the wideband plugged in.

I saw this magazine ad while in school. Made me laugh a little. If you can't make it out it says, "Only you can prevent your car from being blown away by a minivan."

We still haven't made any numbers this year, it's been too hot after we got it running right. As of now, I started over tuning it. It's at 14psi with alky flowing strong and it feels like a train. The tires spin mostly through 1st until I get higher up in the RPMs. I can't imagine it on high boost.

All that's left is to slowly get the boost up. We're aiming for as high as 15g'sph of alcohol and 58psi~ on 52's will take us. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress of the van in this thread.

    Thanks for reading,
    -Bryan

I likes the dragsters stances. Silly, Simon. I'm actually pushing 70 psi because I have the 50 feeding two mitsus. Compound turbocharging, baby.

You should really think about taking a physics course at the local community college.

    I meant the 50trim, not 50psi.

    14lbs out of the hatch.

I removed the wiper motor, wiper arm, washer reservoir, washer line, all the wiring except for the hatch release and license plate lights, and cut most the sheet metal away.

Did some more things as well; I'll post pics and descriptions later.

I am very IMPRESSED with what my son has done to the Mini......
Once we get the boost up to 20 to 23 psi and the weather cools off, we will take it to the track.
Our goal is to get a 12 second ET.

Wish us luck with HOLATTA [that is the Minis name]

I'm sure we can hit 12's if we can keep a BOV alive.

Took the van out 2 days ago, started turning up the boost. We got to about 16psi and I blew up the BOV. The diaphragm exploded apart from the outer shell. I'll get pics of that later.

Right now we're battling with a fueling issue. You hit 2psi and the A/F plummets to 10.0:1...

Anyway, here's the dyno graph from last year.

You can clearly see the valve float and the powerband just drop off.

What's real strange is that on the power sheet the graph goes backwards in RPM. Then, the A/F does a freakin' loop. WTF? Now, on my AEM UEGO I've never seen it go as high as 13:1 as this graph suggests. It would almost always go to 13.1:1 once I hit it, then at about 3,000RPMs it would drop to 11.4:1 and hover between 11.3-11.8:1. I think their equipment doesn't like turbo minivans.

Van should be super fast and not handle too bad with the ES goods it looks like. Shame what happened to the interior Good luck. I love to see the vans getting er done! We need more out there as they are kind of an oddity and 1000 times more practical then stuffing a 502 in an astro or a hemi under glass in the mid section of a caravan.

Re: Officially, the Official Turbo Minivan Build Page

Well a couple things took a turn for the worse.

The alcohol pump took a dive.

It's been running very rich in open loop and kind of crappy during part throttle.

It developed a pretty bad miss.

I exploded the SSQV knock-off BOV. The inner diaphragm blew apart so on with a replacement... TurboXS Type-H BOV, which btw hasn't been used in 3 years so the piston's stuck in the cylinder.

Somehow the shutter wheel got a bolt stuck in and smashed the crap out of the windows!

It even took out the ignition pick up.

Oh well, in with a new one.

As mentioned earlier I did throw some new things in it before it started to run like garbage, such as a MSD coil, redid the wires, installed an aluminum vacuum block, and painted a couple things.
