Good call Mike! How could I forget about MY "Unicorn"!? DOH!!
The gentleman with the 89 Daytona Shelby is one of the Steel City Chapter members. His name is Rick Mihalinac, and also won Best of Show at SDAC-17. He later went on to win a local show's Best of Show award and as part of the spoils his car will be featured on the dash plaque of that show this year. Pretty cool, and one of the best examples of a restored car from our era out there!
Yea, if we need to fill a spot on the roster for an 89 daytona shelby...look below! And keep in mind...mines a t-top car...i dont see jacksons have that option lol......
What about Butch's old '89 Daytona Shelby?
As for Shelby Chargers, the two guys from Canada with the garnett/silver cars...they are beautiful!
He only made ONE of these...........

Great stuff for great cars! Poly engine mounts and bushings at: http://www.polybushings.com
Here are some pics of Rick's 89 Shelby. I think this the one that Reaper is refering to also. This is also the car that inspired Jackson on how far he wanted to go with his 91.

^^Ralph, I don't see a link unfortunatly. I've seen the car before, but I know others may be curious!
Johnny, that car is DEFINATLY deserving of being on the list!
Patrick, I don't want to take away from anybody's efforts. Butch's car was definatly an example of what one can do to bring a car back from death. I beleive he did an awsome job and that the car was definatly show worthy(unlike my piles that I parked on the hill a few times! ). However, when compared to Rick's '89, my buddy Brent's '89, or Jackson's '91...well, let's just say that popularity won over fact.(yes, I understand that Jackon's car wasn't done at the time, but Rick's car was there, and IIRC so was Brent's.)
Did Brent post up pictures of his '89 Shelby Daytona here? He said he would...

One other noteworthy Iroc R/T is Gerry Ayers, Green 93 Daytona Iroc R/T. Documented to be "The LAST "G" Body built". This car resides INSIDE Gerry's house and is still UN-PREPPED with 9 (NINE) miles on the car. The car still has the wrapping on the car.

Directconnection, I honestly don't remember if he did or not. I know he did over on TD.
Ralph, man, how in the world can I keep forgetting some of these cars!! Gerry's car is probably THE formost of historical g-bodies still in existance. I'd LOVE to se that car in person!
Thanks guys.....the list is growing.... odd ball stuff is great!
I saw the BadAssPerformance had listed my old 11 second GLH...(dang, I miss that car),
but one you guys forgot to list is a 257,000+ mile one of 84 made Plymouth Horizon 4 dr that came stock from the factory with the GLH HO carb motor and close ratio 5 speed. Only one built with no a/c and radio delete. NOT a show car by ANY stretch of the imagination, but it has won the vast majority of my 34 NHRA/IHRA Championships.
The 1st FWD car to win a NHRA "Wally" for bracket racing (189 cars-87 Div 3 ET finals)
The 2nd FWD car to win that trophy period (1st one was by a Escort in a Div race a bit earlier in stock class)
The ONLY FWD car to win the Corvette Nats....T W I C E! (It was always a 2 day event and I got runner up on the saturday portions with the 11 second car, giving them all headstarts, then win with the slow one on sundays portion!)
The 1st FWD car to win a NHRA track championship (Bunker Hill in 85)
If you guys Google search Angelo Taylor Racing you will find a couple of pics of the 81 Euro Sedan Horizon (a rare car just with that pkg) that was the 1st carb car in the 13s....then the guy that bought it put a stock 220 hp 440 in the back...drove it there on the 4 cyl with 4 speed, then hooked up a shorty drive shaft to use the big block while leaving the 4 in neutral! Old Four Play was its name and with that set up it was slower than my nitrous fed Omni.
Oh yeah...Both those cars were the first FWD cars autographed by John Force! Pics also on that OLD web site you can google Angelo Taylor Racing for.
I'm pretty sure this is the blue 89 Daytona you refer to. It did win the Shelby class once or twice at Carlisle when I was still going to the event. And it won Best Of Show at SDAC-17.

The Hooter's Omni was very unique. Besides being the development car for the MP Super 60 package, it was two different cars welded together, and it was the first car to run in the 12's at an SDAC event, back in 1994 at SDAC-4 at Muncie Dragway. At the time, nobody else was even close.
There were a few Omni's inside Chrysler that belonged to various engineers that were in the 12's back in the late 80's. Pat Pimpedly was a Chrysler employee (engineer?) that had an 85 Shelby Charger in the mid 90's that ran low 12's. He was about the first car I heard of with a full interior doing that. Pat made the comment that he "couldn't understand why everyone wasn't running 27 pounds of boost." The car was his daily driver and the last time I saw him was at the Woodward Dream Cruise about 4-5 years ago.
