I have an OTC enhanced Monitor, but it doesnt give me options for air bag.

Did it just recently come on? The light will come on if one of the connectors to the airbag sensors in the front of the car is not plugged in, missing, damaged etc.

could also be a bad clock spring which is in the column.

But to answer your question: I'm not sure you can retive codes for the air bag on cars that have OBD1 diagnostics........

You are right, you can't get any codes for the airbag on our cars.

well... I found the air bag control module. there is no diagnostic port in the harness like Mitchel on demand says there is. there is an plug/socket in the side of the module, I suppose thats it.

I would guess its the clock spring also, but I want to be for sure before I go through the trouble of replaceing it.

Forgot to mention that I swapped steering columns. the one that was in the car had bad bearings and damaged/scored the shaft, not to mention the turn signal switch was broken and parts and stuff when flying all all over the place when I pulled it apart. I had a spare steering column from a same year car, same color, etc. air bag light wasnt on in that car when I pulled the column, but it has been sitting for a year or more.
