Are there any differences between years? I found one in my 1987 LeBaron TI and I wouldn't mind using it to get the head work done on it to use in my 89' TII. I can't even spot any cracks between the valve seats.

Alright, so I did some looking like I should have in the first place and found they are the same. What I gathered was that the cams are different.
Which cam is better?
Damn it's a catch 22.
Thanks.
We had a discussion a few weeks ago regarding any differences between 782 castings, and it was decided that, while in a production application, there is no difference, when porting some OE suppliers had some variation in the thickness of the port walls ect. Can't recall how to tell them apart, but if you sift through my posts I'm sure you'll find them. If you are just re-building the head, disregard the above, if you'll be porting extensively, you might want to look.

Well, the idea was to send it to TU to have the head work done so I didn't have to pull the head out of my 89'.
The general concensus is the mexican casting is the best 782 head. There's like 3 different castings of 782 heads, maybe 4 who knows.
The other thing to keep in mind is that '88 and older T1 782's are not x-drilled.

Crap!
Same casting numbers but not x-drilled. how irritating. Looks like this head is going to the metal recycler after all.
It doesnt have to be x-drilled... in fact some prefer the non-x-drilled ones.

The crossdrilling doesnt make a difference anyways, you wont notice anything different performance wise
Now why would someone not want it x-drilled. I thought it kept the head cooler.
The holes are so small they usually clog up anyway after about 100K miles.
Honestly no X-drills is better. I've seen heads crack between the coolant jackets and the cross drills. What you really need to keep the head cool is the number 4 cooling mod on the side of the head. That actaully works!
Reason not to have them... They can be another crack propogation point.
The reason to have them is to help the fact that these motors have siamese cylinders so it was an attempt to cool between them, more for the block than head.
Almost no reports of warped blocks with or w/o them so it is kind of a crapshoot.

So, I can use this head, just drop a roller setup into it and do the number 4 coolant mod? So, I assume that you just get a HG for a non x-drilled head and you don't have to worry about the passages in the block?

Every 8V engine should use the 005 headgasket anyway because it allows the crossdrills to flow too along with other features that are better than the 006 gasket.
These guys have it down.
No cross drills + 005 gasket = the way to go.
Well, this is quite helpful. Now I just need to find a roller setup.
I might have a roller setup for you. Let me check what I have.
