    Re: Turbo Calculator (Newly Released!)

By popular demand, I have finally gotten the calc to allow the user to specify the number of turbos they would like to use on the car. It will update the numbers and graphs accordingly!

How come it only goes up to 4? Picking the turbos for "project Octurbo" will be a problem still.

    Re: Turbo Calculator (Newly Released!)

Can anyone give me some values for a T3 engine, specifically the BFSC and volumetric efficiency?

    Thanks.

    Re: Turbo Calculator (Newly Released!)

leave the VE, but pump the rpm up some. this will keep it very close. For BFSC, stock should be about 0.52.

Is the HP what you expect to make at the crank or at the wheels?

    Excellent job Frank!!!

Do you see adding the large frame turbos like Precision PT91 - PT106 in the future?

    Maybe the maps aren't available?

That would be at the crank...

I have yet to find any compressor maps. If you have any inside voices, that would be awesome... I could easily add them.

    Thanks!

Just some food for thought here because I assumed we were talking crank numbers here. I plugged in the numbers I dynoed from my stock turbo (2 different setups, I know its not exactly a 50 trim but thats the closest listed) and the GT35R I have on the car now and the boost pressure listed was within 2 psi of what it took to make that power. This is on a 250, 275, and 355 hp setups.

Assuming you are talking about crankhp...
Change the BSFC till the boost levels are the same (make sure the a/f and all the other stats somewhat represent whats going on first also).

    Re: Turbo Calculator (Newly Released!)

Ok, more food for thought. I ran the numbers that I got with 355 hp and only changing the a/f as I went leaner the expected boost pressure went up. As I went richer it went lower. This wasn't a 1-2 psi swing. Going from 12 to 14 it went up 6 psi (24 to 30) and going to 10-1 it went down 6 to 18 psi.

Not to burst your bubble, but I am going too. Those turbos are nothing more then options of the 200 series, 300 series, and 400 series turbos and are not much more then marketing ploys to buy bigger. The maps they use are the same ones that I have... I just call them by their series, not calling out each individual "model" when there isn't much of a change.

I think the issue with this is that your BSFC is set so when you add more fuel in the calc we pretend your BSFC stays the same so as you are burning more fuel you need less boost to make the same power. (pretend because its obviously not true)

Thats why it is important to have accurate a/f on there. Make everything as accurate as you can and leave guessing to a min.

I had to take the site offline because it was hacked up pretty bad. I was thinking about starting a new site for it but have not had the time or resources.
