Well, now that I'm feeling a bit better, I just might have to go through with it, and, if the trip to the casino goes well (Brother's B-Day) this Friday, I'll have to get one for you AND me!! Like I tell the dealers @ the Craps table, I like to "share the wealth"!!

Had my electrical inspection last week and my structural on the loft today. Both passed. Need to finish the insulation and sheeting then call for my final. "THEN" I can install the hoist!

Bought a 2-post lift a few weeks ago. Neighbor came over and helped lift it out of my pickup and stand it up in my shop with his backhoe. Not hooked up yet but it is a start.

I wish I lived closer to you Johnny, I'd be at your shop all the time borrowing your lift haha! Looks sweet! You are really spending some bucks on that garage, but sure looks like it's worth it!

The 2-post lift was $1000, used but a good strong American made one. 9,000 pound capacity.

Here is the future office. One window to look out side. The small one looks into the "clean" room. Room is 9 ft. x 12-1/2 ft.

    Re: building of a dream

Building the home was a lot of time and work also.
It is a three part factory built house. Making the driveway,
home site and all the utilities was major!
We lived in a camper for 8 months while doing this.
Here are a couple photos showing a little of the driveway being made and the home.
This is what you see when you drive up the driveway. The front of the home faces the view, and the front porch/deck is not built yet....

    Re: building of a dream

Glad to see your dream come through. I have had plans for 5 years to add a 3 car garage with a vaulted ceiling for lift height in the middle bay.
I can get a "prototype" Hunter 2 post lift for free but it is worn out and the parts would have to be custom made.

    Re: building of a dream

I finally got the two-post lift installed. Just need to add electric this week.
    Painted the loft today.
Why haven't I been working on the shop for a while?
    Been building this..........

Most of the lower rebar in the footing is #4. Just the upper area is #5
Yes over kill, no need to have to ever redo it!

Oh yeah? If you were REALLY hard-core, you'd have had the I-beams pile-driven 10-15ft into the ground, then got with the re-bar! Oh wait, were not building a sky-scraper? (Gilder Radner voice) Nevermind...

Lift install. I hooked up the 220 electric, added the hydraulic fluid and tested the lift. Seems to work. So I added the lifting arms. Tomorrow I will see if it will pick up a car.
