Question What the hell is this? ('85 Plymouth Turismo)

Anybody know what this sensor is? It says "Telex 513" on the part, and is located on the top of the intake manifold going into the #4 cylinder.

Huge +1 there. I didn't know that the carb cars had them.

The computer did that, the old computers that sat where the power module resides on a turbo car where often referred to as Spark Control Computers.

I thought this (see below) was the knock sensor. It shows that sensor that goes into the head (which is where a knock sensor would detect detonation, right?)

The knock sensors on most 2.2's (except the 16V TIII cars) are located on the intake. The sensor in the most recent photo is the coolant temp sensor that drives the temp gauge on dash.

1 for the gauge on the dash (shown above), 1 for the computer to use (on the water neck of the head).

Only one of them is really a sensor. The one in the pic above is just the sender for the gauge which seems to be a little less involved than the coolant temp sensor which is in the water box on the front of the head. I believe they both operate based on resistance, but the coolant temp sensor is a much more accurate setup.
