    Seperate the rod cap

Anyone have tricks for separating the rod caps when they're NOT in the car? I'm guessing they were torqued down to proper spec during the honing of the big end but I really can't seem to get them to seperate now... should I put them in the freezer for a while? Take a plastic hammer to the parting lines?

It isn't fun..you can get special tools, but I generally take a piece of pipe similar diameter and wrap/tape a rag around it, put the pipe in a vice parallel to ground, slide big end over, and tap on bolts with dead blow until it separates, with on hand on rod to catch when it separates.
