what a great story and a great car, congrats. i never knew shelby chargers were offered with an automatic. from all i am reading here, seems like your car would be quite fast on the track.

Well I never directly asked. I did hear his wife couldn't drive 5 speed and the auto was only offered with the 94 hp 2.2, not the 110 hp unit.
Mr McPeak was in search of more power so he opted for a nicely built 2.5TD.
This car is completely period correct with the ad on's and all the work done was completed around the first few years of the car being new.
thanks for the kind words Marcus!
I am going to have the original trans rebuilt as well as the stall repaired or replaced but for new I am going to replace it with a used unit to get it back up and running asap.
When I spoke with the OO the other night he mentioned he had a complete set of decals for the car as well as a NOS in the box set of rear window louvers which I have agreed to buy. If you followed the thread the car had a set of DC louvers on it back in '02 when I had first seen it at the car lot.....at some point the last owner tossed them.
He also has a folder of tid bit info about the car, some receipts, a few original black and white photos of the car from back in the day as well as a photo copy of the window sticker....all of which he kindly offered to me.
Pull the cam sprocket bolt off and see if it has the Direct Connection 5 keyway cam sprocket!
Bill McPeak, the original owner of the car, stopped by my office today with the documentation he had saved.
Included were 4 black & white photos of the car from around 1986, a copy of the original window sticker as well as several pieces of literature for the Chargers & Shelby Chargers.
I’ll post up the B&W’s once I get a chance.

Great car with a even better story! Congrats.
Haha, I thought that looked like one! Its something about the color of it, only the 5ways keep that color, stock ones turn darker colored!
Minor hijack, but I remember those five keyway gears but never understood how they worked. I mean each keyway is like 30 degrees of crank timing (half the 60 degrees for each keyway right?) how does that help adjust timing in those kind of increments?

Each key is a minor fraction off tooth centerline, so turn it to the next position changes offset by a small amount, but of course you would ignore the timing mark then.
I'm going to try and get the B&W pics scanned tonight or tomorrow. I pulled the car in yesterday to start on the trans swap.
For now it's getting the a413 out of my turbo mini and the mini is getting a spare R/T a568.

as promised.....pics of the car from 1986!!!!!!
So are you going to try and get the first plate that it had put on it (RQM 103)?
well, that is possible...... https://www6.hsmv.state.fl.us/mvchec...check/main.jsp
Hahaha, I think you should. Anything else just wouldn't be right if you're restoring the car.
I'll go visit the DMV tomorrow. I'm not sure they will let me have Alachua as my county though.... It will only be $12/year extra to have the "original" plate #.
Thanks for the idea Rich!
