Excessive shaft play wore out the turbine wheel and/or housing.

I suspect I know what option that is, but before I pi$$ anyone off, I'll just keep it to myself. Got pics of the inducer portion of the wheel?

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the wheel is way to small for that housing. Not that it jumped out at me or anything.

You don't, he probably put a stage 2 housing on thinking it would make his turbo better,

Its like when the silly ricers will put a huge turbo on their stock car. It only feels faster at the top end now...because they lost all the low end power!

We've seen more then a couple of mismatched turbine wheels/housings come in for rebuilds. They are amazed at the performance gains when we are finished rebuilding them.

Stage 2 housing and stage 1 wheel.

Turbo would not make over 7psi, with massive lag time. From what I gathered, the turbo was shipped with the wrong stage housing and wheel directly from Turbonetics.

That customer put a stock .48 housing back on and it is happy with the performance of the turbo now.
