Low / No Oil Pressure
Oil pressure drops to "L" on acceleration on my 86S.
If I coast in 5th or feather the pedal, I can get pressure to come up to the first has mark off the "L."
Same thing when I'm idling (pressure rises to first hash mark off LOW).
I can't see any leaks. Oil reads full on the stick and is clean.
Bad oil pump? Sending unit?
My manuals haven't arrived. If it's the oil pump or sending unit, can anyone save me some time and tell me where it is and the best way to change it?
Any suggestions on a good pump. Should I pursue an oil cooler while I'm at it?
Thanks!

Re: Low / No Oil Pressure
Also...my oil pressure light did NOT come on.
Recently changed oil and used the NAPA Gold (made by WIX) oil filter that corresponded to the stock filter PN.
Looks like I'll may need to first get an accurate oil pressure reading (but would still like to know where the sending unit is so I can check connection) with a mechanical or digital oil pressure gauge.
I'm not great running wires so I guessing mechanical gauge would be best for me.
Can anyone offer suggestions where to get one and how to hook it up?

Re: Low / No Oil Pressure
There's an oil ''block'' on the front of the engine on the drivers side, it's also where the turbo oil feed line is hooked up too. Typically there's 3 or even 4 ports on the oil block. 1 has the sending unit, 1 has the oil feed for the turbo, and 1 is blocked off. Take the plug out and thats where you hook up the gauge too.
Any parts store should have the cheap ''sunpro'' brand universal oil pressure gauge that reads 0-100 PSI, like $20 probably.

Can you tell me where the sending unit is? Would like to check connections first.

Re: Low / No Oil Pressure
The round metal thing bolted to the oil distribution block, right next to the oil feed line for the turbo. Look and you'll find it.

Re: Low / No Oil Pressure
For about 50 bucks you can get a autometer with a electronic sender. They work great and you just gotta run 1 wire into the car.

Re: Low / No Oil Pressure
Thanks again guys. Found sending unit loose. Tightened it down, reconnected and pressure now reads perfect.
