What is this noise

I'm pretty sure that it's coming from the top end. I had a stethascope on it and all the noise was coming from the #4 side of the head. I checked the block and it was nice and quiet down there.

I changed the lifters, rollers and cam with known good ones and it still didnt make a differnce. I'm thinking of flushing the motor with ATF in the hopes it's just a blockage some where. Anyway it could be a valve/spring? kinda sounds like it's coming from behind the VC.???


This is in my gf's car. She's pretty up-set about it, she's been having alot of issues with the car latly.

sounds like something in the top end. rod knock would be louder.

Figured it out. Pulled the head off and it turns out the #3 and #4 rod berings spun and the knock where the pistons hitting the head gasket/head.
