FWD 782 head and Heavily ported G head.

I want to get a hybrid 16 valve motor going for my other spirit, but with the recent arrival of my twins girls and my wife and I are tring to find a way for here to be a stay at home mom, money is going to get tight. So I need to sell some things to get my other projects going.

First: I have a 782 head I bought from FWD, I'll post the specs from the FWD site. "Stage 2 ported "782" head starts with a used head, inspected and pressure checked. Combustion chambers reworked, intake and exhaust ports extensively ported for better flow, 3-angle competition valve job and backcut valves.Includes +1mm size valves with springs, retainers and hardened keepers."
The head also comes with their older F3 cam and a Fidanza adjustable cam sprocket. With this whole setup I paid $1500.00 I will sell this setup for half at $750.00 I have had the head for a year and a half and ran 23 runs on a 1/16 mile track and with all the driving I did to test and tune the car, there probably insnt more than 50 miles on the head.

Second: I have a "G" head or bath tub head as the are called somtimes. It has a gasket matched porting on the intake and exhast ports and 5-angle competition valve job and backcut valves. 44mm x37mm size valves. This head was ran on a N/A setup and I was told the head was shaved to bring up the compression, but I never checked it to confirm that it has been shaved. There also is a cam that will come with the head but I'm not sure what cam it is, but was tolld it was a Mopar performance cam. I am wanting $500 for this head since I dont know the compression of cam setup.

As I said before I am wanting to do a 2.5 hybrid setup and all I have now is a head with valves and springs. I will trade my 8 valve heads for parts I can use on my hybrid setup. I need cams, intake and exhaust manifolds, pistons for a 2.5 hybrid, I need a better turbo I would consider a HX35 or a turbo with 50 trim or higher.

I will post up picks upon request and would consider offers and trades.
    Thanks Dustin S.

I had the G head on my old daytona cross drilled, no big deal.

Oh wow that thing has been shaved a lot! This spot I've outlined here, you can see on the swirl head the indentation is still there. Typically this spot is .090'' deep on a head that has never been surfaced. The G head has been surfaced atleast .100'' to completely remove that groove!

Do you think there is a thick enough head gasket to make up for the head being shaved and be able to use it on a boosted car?

Re: FWD 782 head and Heavily ported G head.

Actually, since it's a G head, and if you use it with swirl pistons, the compression won't be much higher than stock. I'd guess it would be about 8.5:1, still plenty low for boost up to ~14-18 PSI boost on pump gas.
But you could get the thick cometic gasket, and add the fel-pro .020'' thick shim to get it back down to approximately stock compression of 8.1:1.
Remember, a stock G head with swirl pistons puts compression down to about 7.5:1 or so.

Edit-The only problem you may run into is the timing belt being too long. You can get a timing belt with 1 less tooth, making it shorter. Also, about every .030'' you shave off the cam timing gets retarded about 2 degrees. So that head will make you cam timing about 6 degree retarded, so an adjustable gear is a must.

IMO this is not a bad way to run higher compression with a G head. Have the good flow but no the low RPM power loss associated with low compression.

The potential downside to a gasket that thick is not having enough quench.

Ehh, so let it go, get an adjustable cam gear, and have G head flow without the compression loss.

Sorry, havent had much time lately to get on for more than a minute or 2. Work and my 3 month old TWIN girls have been eating up my free time! I think for now I might hang on to them. I might consider your offer if I can keep the cam, rocker arms and cam gear.

Deal fell through, had my hopes up for selling it. I'll sell the FWD head without cam or cam gear for $500. I think I'll keep the G head, but $ talks.

I've been sitting on the G head for a while, dont think I will ever need it. I could use some extra cash for my other projects.

    How about $250

I'm kind of wanting cash at this point. I have most of the stuff I need now. But there are still a couple small things now I could use.
2.4 headgasket, head dowels, fuel rail, aluminum intake manifold. Or a larger aftermarket FMIC

I have a 97 2.4 intake manifold complete....just needs to be chopped down for runner length

as well as an SRT 4 fuel rail....the big billet aluminum one. altho i was told the 97 fuel rail can support damn near 400hp

lmk if interested. was holding onto this for my DOHC conversion but doubt its gonna happen anytime soon lol
