    Lebaron goes 14.3

Hello, this is my first post in this new forum . I´ll like to share what happened with our recently bought LeBaron.

My dad and I took our 1995 AA body LeBaron to the track. Some of you might remember this car, it is the one with 16,000 original miles.

It is a mexican LeBaron with a 2.5 TII and auto trans, We bought it form an old lady who rarely used it. We have installed very few mods on it: K&N air filter, Warlock muffler, MAP clamp, a Grainger valve for boost control set at 16psi and the most important, M&H 23x7.5 slicks. Before the slicks our best time was a 15.32 with a 60ft of 2.45. Now with the slicks the car went 14.52 with a 60ft of 1.92 on the first pass, second pass was a 14.58 with a 60ft of 1.98 and on the third pass it went 14.39! with a 60ft of 1.822, trap speed was a constant but low 91mph. I think the ETs show how important traction is!

Very nice Lebaron! Those slicks really help the ET. Welcome to Turbo-Mopar.

Very clean car. Pretty decent passes you made too considering the minimal work done to it and the weight of the vehicle.

Is it just me, or does it seem like a low trap speed for 16 psi? That is intercooled, right? Nice times though. I am a newbie to turbo dodge so bare with me guys. What is a map clamp?

    Yes, the a/c works .

I´ve just scanned the best time slip. Speed is given in kmh, and on the 60ft line it reads "total time":

    The other runs were:
    RT-1.114 (pro tree)
    14.529
    146.49kmh
    1.925 60ft

    RT-1.127
    14.584
    145.58kmh
    1.988 60ft

Yes, 91mph is low for 16psi but consider that this track is at very high altitude at more than 7000ft. It is intercooled. A MAP clamp is tiny elctronic divice that "intercepts" MAP voltaje at a given point so you can get pass the established boost limit of 14.7psi .

Trap speed isn't low at all, heavy car, brick front end, 2.5 stock don't breath at the top end. Not a bad MPH at all,

Basically it is doing what people do with a zenor diode.

Wow, sweet car Mario. Looks like Grandma never even sat in it

Why is it the Mexican market got all the cool unique cars?

By the way Mario, I am in Tecate on business every couple of months, I see a red Spirit RT parked in the same spot all the time. Since it has the red side moulding and the red grill, it is a TIII car right? I remember seeing tons of "Spirit RT" cars in Cancun when I was on my honeymoon ~8 years ago, but they didn't have the monotone color scheme and looked more like US spec Spirit ES's. I am assuming those were intercooled TII cars? Is that your experience?

Cars bought in Mex can't be imported and registered here right? I don't need another car but I get that itch to offer $500. for that RT every time I see it

We don´t have all the cool turbo cars, we don´t turbo Minis, GLHS, Daytona adn you do! .

Spirit R/T 2.5 TII has side decals that read "intercooled turbo". Spirit R/T 2.2 TIII read "DOHC intercooled multivalve".

I don´t know anything about exporting/importing mexican cars , sorry.

Low tire pressure will drop mph too.

    Nice times Mario and welcome.
