    what parts interchange between minivans and cars

    I'm looking at getting myself a minivan. I have a few to choose from from about 91 up to 94. What would be the best year to choose to turbo and what parts interchange with the rest of the K based cars. I already have a Sundance I'd like to rob some parts from.

    they only made them 89 and 90 your best bet would be a 91 with 3.0 . 3 sp auto. that way your motor and trans will swap it there. you will have to rework some wires and install smec i think. 92 and up have bcm too add you might no get all your stuff working.. best bet 89/90 that it,s all bolt in. AL

    I'm not worried about the electronics of it. The van wil be running on megasquirt. I'm mostly concerned about the mechanics of it. Is it easy to convert a 92 or 93 3.0 auto over to 2.5 5sp turbo? What does the body computer control? ABS? what else?

    91 and up uses the cast control arms so the arms and knuckles are the same as cars, the struts are unique to vans but you can use Daytona ones to lower it. Rear suspension is also van only and 2nd gen is same as 1st gen (84-90)
    Engines all bolt in the same, no matter what it had so that point is good, rack is Van only. 91 they use a tranny computer and abs computer so that can be complicated but if using the turbo engine, then you won't need them and remove the ABS and put base MC and booster in. Wiring is different but as noted, you are running Megasquirt.
    Other than that, nothing from other TD's fit.

    thank you. I'm debating turboing a 3.0 with an A543 or putting in a 2.5 turbo with a 523. what do you all think? I hate ABS so it would go and I want to avoid autos.

    Sounds like a plan,

    I think the 523 will be a bit weak though, for a heavy van and 2.5L. Wish I could remember all the combos. A 555 or 568 would be a better choice.
