Widest tires on Daytona with 16" Pumpers

What are the widest tires you guys are running on your Daytonas with the 16" pumper wheels. Im in need of some new tires, I hate the look of the factory size that is one there now. 205/55/16. They are just way to skinny.

I was thinking about going with some 215/55's or maybe 225/50's. I need new tires anyways so this would be the time to make the choice.

I don't really wanna buy any after market wheels. I like the look of the factory, and don't have much money for other wheels. Unless some one wants to do a trade.

225 50s will fit but i thinkk pumpers are only 6in. i wouldnt go wider than 215 unless you ahve a 6.5 in wheel

Hmm, that sucks, are there other factory wheels, that are wider? Depending on how well the Pumpers can sell I may get something else. They have the CS center caps as well.

All of the stock wheels that came in 16" are only 6" wide. My car came with 225/50s on it and yes they go on but the handling was crap. I went with the stock 205/55s and it felt a lot more stable.

If you go with a 15" there are 6.5" crab wheels, Shelby Lemans and CSS wheels.

Do you have picture of your car with the 225's. How did it look?

That is the same size that I had on my 240sx with 6" wide rims. It handled great, I had yokohamas, so it might depend on the tire you were using.

Anythings gotta handle better than whats on there now.

No I don't have any pics but you could see that the beads on the tires were really pulled in. The tire guy made a comment to the effect that they must have been murder to get on there. The handling was very twitchy at best. If you want to run a 225/50 I'd get a set of aftermarket 16x7s.

    What's on there now?

Ok I wont get that size then. Right now I have 205/55. I was looking at 215/55's . It seems like those would work out.

I just want to go as wide as I can, a bit taller does not bother me either.

My 205/55/R16 tires rub against my Daytona wheel well when during tight turn.

If you go with 215's, which I don't recommend, i would at least drop down to a 50 series versus 55.

Go with a 225/50R16, there fine-they even came this way from the factory. I run 225/55R16's on my van on a stock 6 inch wheel and there perfect.

The taller 55 series makes it an easier fit on a 6" rim.

Maybe true but if the factory can stuff 225/50's on 6 inch wheels, we can too,

Ooh, that looks sweet. What brand of tires? And how was the handling versus a skinnier tire?

That would be a smaller diameter, and would probally look pretty stupid. I think whats on there now is already to small.

There is nothing wrong with a 225/50 on a 6 inch rim, it may not be 1000% but its damn close. Try telling that to the guy that runs a 26 inch slick in a 6 inch rim,

This from a bunch of turbo guys that push our engines and turbo's past there limits?
