Idle Changes In Gear Above 5km/h

My idle when the car is parked is usually fine, about 1000, but if I have the car out of gear or the clutch it and it's rolling, it stays at about 2000-2150 until the speed of the vehicle slows down, then it drops to a normal level. It makes it a bit of a pain when driving slowly and shifting gears as the revs don't drop.

Clean out your AIS and TB with carb cleaner, you would be amazed at the amount of crap in there. Double check your vac lines for leaks too, although it doesnt really sound like one.

Well I just redid a bunch of vaccuum lines and I cleaned out my intake about 6 months ago, so I wouldn't imagine it to be too bad, but I'll try it and see how it goes. Thanks.

I thought this was just what cars do. I have had other vehicles that didn't drop the rpm's until you were at about a complete stop. Don't remember the reasoning though.

    Anybody else have more info?

That is completely normal, it's the computer bringing up the RPMs to aid in shifting it prolongs clutch life. THe computer seeing a signal from the Speed Distance sensor so it opens up the AIS to bring the RPMs up to make rev matching easier

It never used to do this, at least not when I bought it, and not after I had it air cared, etc... Sort of a come and go thing, not sure why it's happening now, but when I drive in traffic or in town, I usually shift at really low RPMs as I don't need to accelerate fast, and it's weird when I put the clutch in and the revvs climb instead of drop.

the revs climb to 2000 rpm right?, chances are you have some issues with vacuum before you cleaned them up, now that you fixed them the car runs properly, I've never had a TD that didn't do this

Makes sense. I didn't suspect any vaccuum issues as I've done them once before already, but that could be. I don't really like the higher idle when moving though, but I'll cope.

Today, with nothing different except maybe a couple degrees cooler weather, it's back to staying at low idle. Weird.
