    88-89 rear disk conversion.

    for some reason my 89 shadow has the 88 rear brakes with the e brake lever, i want to convert to 89 or the newer vented ones, what will i need from a donor car?

    You need the backing plates, hoses, e-brake shoes, rotors, spindles are the same I believe, calipers, prop valve. Reuse your e-brake cables.

    bzzzt on reusing the ebrake cables. The only time you can use your ebrake cables on this type of conversion is if you started with drums. If you have the wedge the caliper BS then you cannot use the ebrake cables.

    Now let me clairfy that further. If you follow the cable from the rear brake towards the front of the car you'll come across a connector. Pry the tabs a bit and slide the back half of the cable out and put in 89 cables instead for drum ebrakes. Then you don't have to change the whole cable, just the ends.

    Misunderstood, thought he had drums.

    no the levers move fine, the one caliper seized
